Scumdogs of the Universe

       GWAR LIVES YOU DIE

It has been 30 years and yet it is one of those things I remember like yesterday.

Scumdogs of the Universe cemented GWAR in my world.

I had heard Hell-O, liked it but struggled with its punkiness as I was a death metal and thrash guy.

Along came Scumdogs turning up the metal and the (quote) obscenity. To this day I always sing along.

The first time I saw them live it was carnage incarnate. "Crushed in the pit! Nailed to the stage!"

Covered in the viscera of the mutilated, I was picking entrails from my hair for a week and blood and fluids washed out for far longer. I became a life long fan.

Now, 30 years later GWAR has both remixed and remastered Scumdogs. Like really remixed it not just cranking the loudness. King Queen is four minutes longer allowing us to once again revel in the might of our lost overlord Oderus. Beyond that major change the bastards at Slave Pit have truly brought the album to the peak of Mount Fuji. All the tracking has been curated. Beefcake has stepped up and we discover lost bass destruction. Maybe a bit hot on the first half but listening to the 30th edition is truly like rediscovering a lost treasure.

The closest comparison i can think of is the Doors remasters that also resurrected chunks of flavour that could have been lost to the eons. A new experience.

If you have ever been a slave to our intergalactic overlords crawl as quickly as your bloody stumps will take you and head over to: https://gwar.net and get a copy of the 30th anniversary edition. If you have all your limbs you are human filth and deserve to be stuffed into the meat grinder.

GWAR to Reissue Scumdogs of the Universe on Vinyl, CD, and ...
