Crossing Paths with the Big Guy (Session 127)

 SESSION 127: The Run on He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named (24OCT20)

But first. We must get back to Helix and then make the run back. But really first we have two encounters to resolve.

The first, an inscribed staff with a black gem atop sticks from the muck. What should we do? Eventually it is touched and the trap is sprung. The swamp rises up and takes the form of vegetable man-like-thing and we had a fight on our hands. The shambling mound put up a good fight, bashing out the last of Boris’s teeth, but it was only one big vegetable against a horde of murderhobos. Loot, cleanup and push on.

The second encounter, a very handsome 22’ foot human-like being crossed our path. This was a titan and not just any titan it was Titanic George Clooney. The most handsome titan of the year 4096 (whenever that was/is). He was passing by and in a rather jovial mood. "Well what is this? You must be my adoring public looking to bask in my titanic handsomeness since you all must know I am the cover to 'Titan Magazine - Titan of the Year edition. Since i have things to do and cannot wait for your lives to expire after adoring me for the rest of your fleeting lives let me offer a once in a lifetime opportunity". From a titanic sling on his back he pulled out and then unrolled a poster of most titanic proportion. "Let me present you with something that you can adore in my absence and for a very nominal fee for one such as myself I will provided a personalized autograph." We decided to purchase the autograph on the nearly life sized promotional poster -

To those often between my toes, start each of your fleeting days off right by basking in my presence.

Your idol TGC

George smiled down upon the little people “(you) who make it all happen” and pressed on. “Look upon me and knowwwww” George's voice faded as his titanic strides quickly moved across the foul mess that we slogged through (time and time again). Steve and Sloth heaved the poster upon their shoulders like some great timber and the hobos marched on.

Getting back to Helix a week was gobbled up for various reasons. After affixing the Titan George poster across the whole of the ceiling in the barrack Raul got bored and pulled a card from the deck. The card was the Jack of Diamonds and it was good. How good? I cannot remember but he did not 'Zaphod' and that is a win, look it up if you really want to know (ya bums). After the card event that wasn't, it was back into the swamp. It was time to run at them damn cultists once more. The journey back was nice and smooth. Back in the chamber of the Minoton evil symbols were held aloft and we entered the door most likely to lead to our destination. It appeared to be the correct choice.

The corridor was illuminated and there was a doorless chamber immediately adjacent. Silence was in play and there was invisible sneaky hobos that got in quickly and neutralized the first line of cultist defence (Mortimer and Gethron). Back in the main corridor there was a door 50 or so feet further along. The barrier was investigated and deemed trap free. Since the group was still under the cover of silence Boris gave a swift kick to the door. It broke into many pieces and with its destruction revealed a chamber with more cultists and a host undead horrors. No time to look around the fight was now. Well, not really now but next time as this ending is a bit of a cliff hanger as they say (whomever they are).
