Flower Power & the Bone Boss (Session 118m)

 SESSION 118m: Almost

The second teleportation pad connected us to the entrance to the entrance to this level. Perhaps more interestingly we also found a small chamber with more dead tree statues. Sure that doesn’t sound all that interesting but after a little observation we found that one of the trees had a key hole – INTERESTING! (Felix the living skeleton sleuth that nobody likes, for a host of reasons I am certain).

NOTE: Somehow I failed to mention (even the DM must keep strict records it seems..) in a previous session that Felix had adorned himself with the crown of the undead bishop of the anti-priest's of the Dead Tree Thing. The result was hilarious, think of a certain weaselly Gestapo fellow and the Arc of the Covenant. The crown was not for the likes of the living and the result reduced Felix to an irritating skeleton standing in the liquified remains of all his non-calcific materials BUT he 'lived' on to irritate further as 'The Living Skeleton Sleuth'.

Somewhere in between, during or after these two discoveries we likely rested and plotted. We returned to the second teleportation pad and stepped on it. A new chamber with a line of skeletal archer statues. These were a precursor to the upcoming challenge. We had the choice of door or corridor.

The hobos chose door. It lead to a rectangular chamber with another door and six more skeletal statues – these ones animated and attacked. Like Cobra Kai we hit first and without mercy. Making quick work we pressed on. The door led us to another chamber albeit larger than the first with a dozen stone archers but the floor was covered in damp moss and lotus flowers. Not giving much thought to the design aesthetic a bunch of hobos charged in. Melee ensued and the flowers filled the chamber with pollen. The pollen was interesting as it seemed to have a distinct effect on humans exclusively, they became greyish and began to feel stiff. Pollen of petrification!

The puny humans fell back (Nara & Charles could feel the bite) and others filled the breach. We thought we had things under control and then the giant boss skeleton came crashing through the wall. The damn thing was over twenty feet tall, no wonder he had to bash his way in. It took mighty swings with its mighty stone sword. The arc of which cut into the front line of hobo tanks. He was a big nasty bugger but a bit of a stone tiger big on punch but light on guts. It was just a matter of time before we were able to topple the brute and the statue horde.

The next chamber was the skeleton king’s throne room. Six large columns are spaced along the north and south walls of this chamber. The room is filled with treasure – a veritable hobos ransom. At the east wall is a huge throne. More sacks and pockets were filled and then we took a look at the king’s golden crown. “Another for the collection” stated Felix as he added it to his already crowned head. It was so large that it quickly fell from his head to dangle like a necklace around his bony neck. This motion dislodged a well concealed human-shaped key that was part of the adornment. “Well what do we have here?”
