Just Another Secret Passage in Barrowmaze (Session 130)

 SESSION 130: Nooks and Crannies

Well, we were totally ready to get out of BM and then Raul the eagle eyed mega-dungeon explorer that he is recognizes something. “Hey I can’t be surprised and find everything just like that funny wall over there”. Kitty corner to the previously one-way door was a concealed door.

Looks like we found another tomb. The giveaway was  the three stone sarcophagi in the centre of the chamber. Our group prepared for the worst, usual?. Sloth and Steve gotta hold of the first lid as Rahgnar prepared to smash anything that pops up. Whoa this isn’t really stone but plaster covered wood. Far lighter than expected, and began to crumble with handling. Nothing inside. We repeated this process with the two remaining boxes. Both were empty junk as well. So we kicked them out of the way to see if there was any hidden loot. Nope, just crappy fake sarcophagi. Anger clouded our hobos thoughts, they were about to storm out but Steve had settled in for another meal. This brought the group back on target long enough to remember protocols. The chamber was inspected and a false wall was discovered. Behind it a narrow passageway with a number of small burial niches.

The dwarves were sent in, and that probably was for the better. There was treasure, neat stuff as a matter of fact but there was also a devious trap. A clockwork scorpion to be precise. Luckily dwarves tend to be wrapped in thick metal and have stellar saves. Much to the DMs chagrin we pulled out quickly after that and made our way back to Helix.

The journey was violently non-eventful. Instead it looks like we were slightly blown off course and discovered a malnourished guy in a tree house. The house had no clear way up and he dropped a bucket requesting a passage toll which we paid without much concern. Pressing on Carla wondered what his story was. Ding-We brushed off her concerns as he was already visualizing a hot meal and a real nights rest in our barracks.
