Dungeon Death Machine (Session 118L)

SESSION 118L: The Sword Must be in There!

After finishing lunch the hobos once more spread through the dungeon like an STD at a bathhouse in search of 'The Sword!'. Before getting to that possibility they would have to battle the lich-like security guard of the Anti-Clerics treasure heap. They as MuderHobos could not under good conscience leave the old corpse surrounded with so much treasure - gems, jewelry and coin littered the chamber. The Treasure Security Operative was a brutal opponent that left the crew dreaming of a 30 minute work day. They attempted to push on but with a little more sneaking hoping to avoid any unneeded 'entanglements'.

Down a corridor came a gaggle of giant flies. They posed as much of a challenge as they had loot. Afterwards BoB noted a well-concealed key-hole in a wall (and the subtle signs of a hidden portal). They decided to come back to it, see where else the corridor led.

First unwelcome obstacle was a pair of 10' long ant/ praying mantis things exploding from the floor. A couple of nasty bites and then an acid vomit just when our band thought they were gaining the upper hand.  They became concerned that if the second bug got a chance to puke on them more gear loss would only be the tip of the iceberg. "Live to Murder another day!!", and with that they ran right into a strange mirrored chamber.

Here comes the second unwelcome event - Doppelgängers. Perfect copies, outside the chaotic dispositions and red skin, of Nara and Biff stepped from the mirrors. The 'evil versions' wanted desperately to kill the not-so-evil-originals. The gang once more fit it necessary to run. They had the jump and made for the key-hole while leaving burning oil in their wake. This would provide enough time to backtrack and open the secret door. It revealed an octagonal room that on floor in the centre was a raised circular platform upon which is an engraved picture of a dead tree. They cautiously avoided the platform as they spilled in and once more sealed the door as footsteps and vulgar curses could be heard.

The uncertainty of the platform thing was overridden by the ongoing noises from the doppelgängers and they checked it out - ZORP PLOP. It was a teleportation pad and they were now elsewhere in a similar chamber but without the howls of the doppel-hobos. it looked like they had found reprieve.

Even though Mason would not be able to regain his spells the treasure hunters were beaten and exhausted and in needed of some recuperation and a plan to neutralize the evil facsimiles.
